~ 23 Beautiful Babies ~ Brisbane Newborn Photographer

Finally I have got around to blogging all of the gorgeous babies that came along to CreativeLIVE in May for my newborn posing class.  It’s so hard to believe looking back that I photographed 23 babies in those 4 days! I thought there was 22 but when I recounted there were 23!  Definitely a record.  And I wont lie, I could hardly walk on the Sunday and  slept the whole way home!  :)

Thank you again to all of the amazing parents that brought their little ones along to be photographed.  And also again to the 8 photographers that joined me over the 3 days ~ I’m so glad we met x

I am still blown away each day by the emails that I recieve from people who have watched the class – from all over the world!   THANK YOU!  I loved being able to share what I know with you I would do it again;)

And a special thank you to LOVE THAT PROP, BRAND NEW BABE, MONKEY MOO MOO, DROPS & PROPS, PICSIE PROPS & MR. & MRS. AND CO. For all of the beautiful props they sent along for me to use during the class.

Meet Matthew…  This gorgeous baby boy and his brothers came to see me last month traveling all the way from Tamworth NSW!

~ 9 months in the making ~ Brisbane Newborn Photographer

When this beautiful mother contacted me to photograph the birth of her second baby she had only just found out she was pregnant.  So we decided to document this special time right from the beginning.

Being there to capture this journey from the beginning – the excitement, the fear, the happiness and love has been one of the most beautiful experiences of my photography career.  I feel so honoured to have been there to share in these incredible moments with this family.

Photography is so important in telling our story, whether these life events are big or small, the pictures we take today will be seen by our generations to come – these images will become so much more powerful with each passing day….

AIPP QLD Professional Photographer of the Year 2013!!!

Putting my excitement into words is NOT easy!!!

Last weekend was the annual judging of the AIPP QLD Professional Photography Awards for 2013 here in Brisbane, with the Awards dinner held on Monday night.

Sunday I went to watch the judging of both the Family and Portrait categories along with many other hopeful photographers eager to see their images come up and be judged by 5 Master Photographers.  Each judge gives the image a score out of 100 and the average score is given to your print.   It’s exciting and nerve racking all at the same time and I love it!!!

So this year my main goal is to achieve my Master of Photography status with the AIPP in September at the National Awards, to gain your Masters you have to earn 15 points within 5 years of becoming an accredited member of the AIPP.  Each Silver award is worth one point and each Gold award is worth two and you can only enter 4 images.   I need two points!!!   and these points can only be achieved at the National Awards not State.

At our State Awards we’re allowed to enter a maximum of 12 images but only 4 images into each category.  So I entered 4 into Family and 4 into Portrait in hope to find my 4 strongest images to send off to APPA’s in September.  I was ecstatic that my 8 entries were awarded 1 Gold, 2 Silver with Distinction and 4 Silvers.   Never in my wildest dreams did I expect at the awards dinner that my awarded images would win both categories and then I would be announced the AIPP QLD Professional Photographer of the Year for 2013!!!!!!

WOW is all I say every time I look at the trophy sitting in my office!   I just can’t describe how it feels, I had absolutely know idea that I would ever come close to winning something like this!!  And I’m only the 4th women to have their name on this trophy!!!!

I left my finished digital images with Foto Frenzy for printing and Matting and then the delivery of my print case, as I had to be in Seattle before the entry deadline.  Darren did such an amazing job  - I can’t thank him enough!

I also want to thank all of the judges and volunteers who put in countless hours of their valuable time to help us on our quest in becoming better photographers by entering these awards.  If it wasn’t for them these events wouldn’t be possible.  I also want to congratulate all of the other Category winners and finalists – their entries were AMAZING!  Queensland is full of so many talented to photographers.

I got to meet these beautiful twin baby girls just before I went to Seattle for my CreativeLIVE course on newborn posing.

3 week old Katherine and Elizabeth came along to help me out with some filming for behind the scenes footage – they slept through the entire shoot and managed a couple of little smiles for me  :)
